Kavitha
Krishnamani, MD
As
a child, Kavitha cared for her sick cousin and remembers the joy
she felt when her cousin’s condition improved. From that moment,
Kavitha knew she always wanted to be a physician. Early on her resolve
to become a physician led her to compete in a nationwide entrance
exam to secure a scholarship to India’s prestigious Madras
Medical College in Chennai. During her second clinical rotation,
Kavitha discovered she did not want to be restricted to just treating
the heart or lungs, but rather to care for the patient as a whole
person. This experience, along with many others, led her to choose
a career in family medicine. In 2001, Kavitha moved to the United
States to fulfill that dream. Outside of medicine, Kavitha enjoys
reading, listening to music and spending time with her husband,
a hospitalist physician.
