Payal Gaba, MD
Ever since Payal decided on a career in medicine, she always wanted to be in family practice. During her medical school and subsequent internship experiences at Lady Hardinge Medical College, her rotations in medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, OB and surgery solidified her resolve. While completing her internship, Payal volunteered for the National AIDS Control Organization and was the medical officer in charge of the subcenter for the National Pulse Polio Immunization Program. She desires to provide compassionate and technically excellent medical care to patients from all walks of life. For fun, Payal enjoys reading, traveling, cooking and spending time with her husband, an anesthesiologist.

Daniel Jereza, MD
Daniel dreamed of being a doctor ever since he was a young boy in the Philippines. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, he enrolled in West Visayas State University Medical School and graduated third in his class. He served as Medical Director of a medical and diagnostic center in Makati City and a company physician in Micronesia. In 1999, Daniel immigrated to the United States, where he enlisted in the United State Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He graduated from the Naval Hospital Corps School in 2001 and is currently stationed at the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, California, where he works in the family practice clinic. Daniel is a dedicated family man who loves to sing, dance, read and surf the Internet.

Kavitha Krishnamani, MD
As a child, Kavitha cared for her sick cousin and remembers the joy she felt when her cousin’s condition improved. From that moment, Kavitha knew she always wanted to be a physician. Early on her resolve to become a physician led her to compete in a nationwide entrance exam to secure a scholarship to India’s prestigious Madras Medical College in Chennai. During her second clinical rotation, Kavitha discovered she did not want to be restricted to just treating the heart or lungs, but rather to care for the patient as a whole person. This experience, along with many others, led her to choose a career in family medicine. In 2001, Kavitha moved to the United States to fulfill that dream. Outside of medicine, Kavitha enjoys reading, listening to music and spending time with her husband, a hospitalist physician.

Mohit Mahajan, MD
Born and raised in northern India, Mohit learned good quality work ethics and self-discipline when he joined the Sainik (military) School in the sixth grade. He came to respect the campus doctors, whose integration of compassion and understanding, along with their skill of healing, inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. When the opportunity to attend medical school appeared, Mohit readily accepted it and enrolled at the Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences. After completing his medical education, Mohit followed up with an internship at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital. He later immigrated to the United States, worked as a medical assistant to become familiar with the U.S. healthcare system. Outside of medicine, Mohit has a passion for Yoga and meditation. He enjoys playing and watching soccer, lawn-tennis, table-tennis, cricket, volleyball, basketball and spending time with his wife, a dentist.

Ricardo Rois Romero, MD
Originally from Colombia, Ricardo became interested in pursuing a career in medicine after working alongside the Red Cross during his obligatory year in the Colombian army. In 1993 he enrolled at the University of El Bosque. After graduation, he worked for the Columbian government as a general practitioner. During this time he came to feel that the health care system in his country was not sufficiently prepared to address the diversity of patient needs. Therefore, he came to the United States not only to gain medical knowledge, but also to seek guidance as a healthcare professional. Ultimately Ricardo’s desire is to contribute to the betterment of the Colombian healthcare system.

  Laila Sajwani, MD
During her various specialty rotations in medical school, Laila discovered that family medicine best complemented her career goals. She believes that family medicine plays a unique and vital role in patient education and preventive care by attending to the diagnoses and treatment of a broad range of health issues. After graduating from Liaquat Medical College, Laila went on to an internship at Aga Khan University Hospital and then practiced as a family physician in Karachi, Pakistan. In 2000, she moved to the United States with the goal of pursuing training in family medicine. When not working, Laila enjoys cooking, reading a good book, playing board games, shopping, and spending time with her husband, an embedded software/hardware engineer.
