J.R. Capati, MD

A native of Hawaii, J.R. earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Biology from the University of California, San Diego. He worked as a radiology operations coordinator for several years before entering medical school at Far Eastern University in the Philippines, and is a certified Emergency Medical Technician. Prior to entering residency, J.R. completed 16 months of a clinical medicine preceptorship. He appreciates the challenges and opportunities associated with meeting the healthcare needs of his patients. Outside of medicine, J.R.’s interests include wrestling, surfing, customizing cars, and spending time with his family.

Phil Capp, MD

A Washington native, Phil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whitman College. He worked as a research fellow, medical assistant, interpreter, and in clinic office management prior to earning his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC.  Phil completed two years of residency training in psychiatry and behavioral sciences prior to beginning his family medicine residency. He is committed to providing full spectrum healthcare in a community setting and is an active community volunteer. Phil enjoys fly fishing, restoring furniture, Japanese woodblock printing, and running in marathons/ triathlons. He is fluent in Spanish and proficient in Ilocano and Tagalog.

Maricel Celerian, MD

Maricel developed an interest in family medicine during her clinical rotations at West Visayas State University in the Philippines. She loved caring for patients of all ages with a focus on disease prevention and healthy living. In response to community need, Maricel developed a community awareness program to educate people about sexually transmitted diseases. Following medical school, Maricel practiced for seven years as a Philippine Department of Health physician. She then immigrated to the United States and was actively involved in medical and health-related research prior to starting residency. In her free time, Maricel enjoys arts and crafts, writing poetry, reading, cooking, hiking and camping. She is fluent in Tagalog and Ilonggo.

Wilson Chan, MD

Wilson’s broad clinical interests led to family medicine and the opportunity to develop personal relationships with patients. He is fortunate to have had great family medicine mentors who taught him about the life of a family physician, healthcare management, and the role of physician as employer. After completing medical school the University of Hong Kong and residency in Hong Kong, Wilson practiced general medicine for 11 years. He immigrated to the United States to pursue further medical training and looks forward to future practice in a northwest community where he can develop personal and professional connections. Wilson’s interests include computer programming, photography, camping, culinary arts, and playing golf. He is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Clark Kwok, MD

Clark, who is of Chinese descent, was born in Viet Nam and immigrated with his family to the United States during his formative years. He developed a deep respect for family medicine due to his family physician’s style that fostered trust. Clark hopes to emulate that trust in his own relationships with patients. He appreciates family medicine’s focus on the whole person throughout the life cycle. Prior to entering medical school, Clark earned a BS in Applied Ecology and a doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. He received his medical degree from American University of the Caribbean. Outside of medicine, he enjoys swimming, running, hiking, playing basketball and tennis, cooking, snorkeling, reading, home improvement, and playing the piano. He is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese dialects.

David Lindgren, MD

David, an Ogden, Utah native, earned a BS in Microbiology from the University of California, Davis, before entering St. George’s University School of Medicine. He was introduced to the breadth of family medicine during medical school and appreciates the focus on continuity of care, prevention and education. David looks forward to a career that is both intellectually and emotionally rewarding, is eager to help patients as part of the healthcare team, and embraces teaching. In his free time, David enjoys playing chess and basketball, lifting weights, and karate. He earned 1st and 2nd degree black belts in Okinawan Karate.

Esther Nwogu, MD

Esther’s commitment to family medicine stems from her family’s relationship with the physician who provided the full spectrum of care to all members of her family. As a medical student at the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, Esther worked to develop the skills necessary to build trusting relationships with patients and their families and emulated her family doctor’s skills in the practice of clinical and inpatient care. After residency, she hopes to practice family medicine in an academic setting. Esther’s interests include volunteer work, internet browsing and literature searches, and singing. She is fluent in several Nigerian dialects.
