Resident Application Process
The Central Washington Family Medicine Residency Program (CWFM-R) accepts only those applications transmitted via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). For information regarding ERAS,
contact the Dean’s office of your medical school or the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). CWFM-R is registered with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for the M.D. match and the National Matching Service, Inc. (NMS), for the D.O. match.

Applicants are individually considered and invited to interview based on criteria compatible with the community health center’s mission of service and education.

Applicant information is reviewed as soon as ALL of the following are received from ERAS:

1.) ERAS Common Application Form

2.) Personal Statement

      (The personal statement should reflect the applicant’s commitment to, and
      experience in, family medicine.)

3.) Medical school transcript

4.) USMLE or COMLEX transcript
(Maximum of 2 attempts for each exam step.USMLE/COMLEX Step 3 not required prior to start of residency.)

5.) Two letters of recommendation from U.S. physicians with whom the applicant has worked in clinic and inpatient settings in the U.S. within the past 2 years. (Letters of recommendation from non-U.S. physicians CANNOT be substituted for letters from U.S. physicians.)

At least one letter of recommendation MUST be from
a U.S. family medicine physician who has supervised
the applicant for U.S. clinical/inpatient family medicine experience equivalent to a 4-6 week rotation/externship.
(Observerships CANNOT be substituted for rotations or externships.)

Please note the following considerations:

• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have U.S. permanent resident status prior to submitting an application. Applications from persons requiring visas will not be accepted.
• ECFMG certification by November 30, 2007 is required for all international medical graduates unless the applicant is a 4th year student graduating January - June 2008.
• Computer literacy and keyboarding dexterity is required.
• Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency.

2007-2008 Deadline
The application deadline is Friday, November 30, 2007.
A timely response to the interview invitation is expected as interviews are scheduled on a first response basis. The schedule fills quickly and may be filled before November 30th. No applicant is considered without an interview.
